Dolphins breathe consciously because they have to come up to the surface for breathing. They do not sleep in the conventional sense and could be existing in a sort of lucid dream consciousness even while asleep, to ensure that they come up to the surface for inhaling air. In a lucid dream, one is aware that it is a dream. Since breathing awareness induces a meditative state of consciousness, it is possible that dolphins exist in a meditative awareness always. Who knows? Perhaps the facial feature of the dolphins that looks like a smile is a sign of the blissful consciousness within them!

Anecdotes and legends about the dolphin’s friendliness to human beings have been around from the beginning of human history. According to one story, the ancient Greek poet Arion was rescued by dophins in the sea. People who tried to swim with the dolphins have experienced mystical states and healings. Reality is like a flowing river rather than a static stagnant pool of water. Reality is dynamic and ever-changing. You can never step into the same river twice. Scientific rationalism tries to take some water from this flowing river, puts it in the bottle of the scientific method and analyzes it. Then the scientific priesthood insists that if others take water in bottles from the same river, but from different locations in the river and at different times, the water should show the same characteristics. This may work in a stagnant pool of water preserved in controlled conditions to ensure no change in the nature of the water. But the Universe and reality flow and change endlessly. It is impossible to bottle reality into controlled conditions that scientism sees as its sacred tenet.

Many scientists now speculate that more than 96% of the Universe is made up of Dark Matter and Dark Energy about which these scientists know nothing! They admit that the matter and energy of the Universe we experience make up only less than 4% of the whole Universe. Still the scientific establishment talks about Laws of Physics! It is funny! They don’t know what most of the Universe is up to and still expect the lay people to accept that the laws of nature they have dreamed up based on their understanding of the less than 4% of reality should be taken as truth!

The scientific establishment should be subjected to democratic scrutiny by the people. This device called Hadron Collider, some scientists fear, could cause unintended side effects resulting in catastrophes that could endanger Earth and humanity. I am not in favour of scare-mongering. But still this experiment does raise some legitimate concerns about the dogmatic and undemocratic behaviour of the scientific establishment. In the article from the link mentioned above, the project leader says, “There is a huge army of scientists who know what they are talking about and are sleeping quite soundly as far as concerns the LHC.” Okay, nice confidence! Or is it complacency or a disregard for the planet and humanity?

So these scientists know what they are talking about? How can we swallow that claim when we realise that science knows only about less than 4% of what makes up this Universe? They know nothing about the Dark Matter and Dark Energy, which they admit covers more than 96% of the Universe! And some scientists have expressed concern about the potential dangers of the Hadron Collider, which could interact with the Dark Matter and Dark Energy that science knows nothing about!

The scientific endeavors and the priesthood that controls it must be subjected to a democratic questioning more so in relation to experiments or research that involves probabilities of disastrous consequences. This is extremely important because the claims of science are not infallible and are based on their limited understanding of a very small chunk of reality.

The rights of humanity, the other species of the planet and Earth itself can’t be trampled upon arrogantly. Civil society activists need to think of demanding more transparency from the scientific establishment. The ‘we experts know best, you lay people know nothing’ attitude of the scientific priesthood should not be tolerated to prevent possibilities of scientific experiments based on little knowledge going haywire and endangering humanity and Earth.

The latest news is that the Hadron Collider experiment is to be conducted despite the doubts raised by even a section of scientists. Apart from making people more aware of the dangers and raising our voice demanding accountability from the scientific establishment, we also need to let people focus their consciousness meditatively to reduce the possibility of the experiment causing any catastrophe. At the quantum level, the collective consciousness could affect the behavior of the subatomic particles and other aspects of the Universe. So a collective intention of safety emanating from a critical mass of people could influence the outcome positively by intensifying the living planetary consciousness.
